A Wicked Weekend....

Sisters, Sisters - there were never such devoted sist... Wait, wrong musical.

Thanks La for the Wicked good time.
Which witch would you be?
And a HUGE shout out to the Mister for standing in an obscenely long line (in the freezing cold) so that we could have the VERY LAST two tickets sold.

Catch Up, But Not The Good Kind You Eat With Fries

Yes, Heather - there is snow in my backyard...still.
See that fence? Yes, that ghetto fence in the back. It blew down in the snowstorm. So in addition to the depressing snow, we have home owner repairs.
In the theme of needing Spring to come I have chopped my locks. I keep getting "sassy" comments from my coworkers. I don't think sassy is quite the right word. Either way I think it still needs to be shorter (and sassier).

Okay, this one's for the mister. He posted a lovely picture from his "office" so here is my response...I know, right? He has me WAY beat on this one.

Things That Do My Soul Some Good - Part 2

Three words - Sunny San Diego!

This was the balcony of my hotel... Ahhhhhhhh! Fresh air to breathe. Who else is sick of the inversion? Or sick from the inversion?
I did attend the classes at the convention center, but this view called to me and I just had to reply "I'm Coming!"I didn't even care that I got locked outside for awhile. It's really hard to care about much when you can just watch a sail boat cross your view.

Some great eats with some great friends.

Things That Do My Soul Some Good - Part 1

Getting to be with these little Monkeys for the weekend.

And getting ready in the morning with this one - what a treat!

Sorry about the toothbrush Nate, but it worked like a charm.

PHASE 4

The carpet is in! The blinds are up! The light fixture is back!

The door is back on...
Ugly closet doors were re-installed. I have a fun idea to disguise the mirror.P.S. Tonight we pick up the bed from storage! (aka mom and dad's house).

PHASE 3

Despite the overwhelming response for turquoise, Mister painted the room orange and I love it!
(We are saving the turquoise for my office upstairs)

PHASE 2

Now for a color scheme.....
What do you think? Turquoise & Red or Orange & Brown?

P.S. Of course you are all welcome to stay in the newly redesigned guest bedroom - even in-laws!

PHASE 1

This is phase one of our Guest Bedroom redesign.

It was previously occupied by one of five boys that lived in the house that we purchased recently. Needless to say - IT WAS GROSS! I will spare you the gory details and not post a true "before picture". So technically this is phase 1.2. We ripped out the old carpet and Mister covered the room floor-to-ceiling with KILS.

For the Kiddies

When there is a little Murray (Mister says he wants it spelled like Bill Murray, but it really is after the character in A Thousand Clowns), or perhaps a teenage Murray, we will put this above our door instead of the way over-used, traditional and kinda lame "Return With Honor".

Poster is by Laurie Coyle

Without Aunt L

This is what happens when Aunt L doesn't come to your Christmas morning. She had previously kept us all in check, but without her the wrapping, ribbons, etc. get out of control.

This is the pathway from the front door into the heart of the home. Not walkable, but just how we like it. Means we had a good Christmas.

L, just in case you are wondering....It was K all along.
L was with us in spirit though, she sent an A-mazing quilt for the culprit (see above). A Route 66 theme with blocks from each state of the route. Quilted with the Route 66 logo in each block, too.

My Favorite Outbound Christmas Gifts...

A superhero story where S is the superhero. E got one too - he helps batman stop catwoman from robbing the toystore.
J was so perplexed, he asked "Did you tell the author my name and he put it in the book?" Yes, I told the "author" your name and he printed in your book using his HP inkjet. I love that the printing press (aka process) has been around for so long, but is still so magical.
A Ballerina Princess story for a girl who can't decide which is better.
And a chew toy for S. The love of books starts early for the H kids.
And an extra sweet of my extra sweet....

Okay Aunt Debbie, Here You Go...

You thought I had time to decorate for Christmas.
You wanted to see my decorations. ("No pressure" - yeah, right)
You asked me to take pictures of my Christmas decorations.
So.... Tada!
My one and only piece of Christmas flair....
I know star toppers are out (way out - you can't even find them in most stores) but the silver curly-cues go great with this tree....

Extreme close-up just to show off the sexiness of the white plastic Christmas tree. They really are all the rage. Now that you know that they are all the rage you will start noticing them everywhere. I promise.

Wicked Smart Nephew & Niece

The Mister and I got such a chuckle out of these letters to Santa.
It will be interesting to see what direction Santa sends Ethan in - Newbery Winners or Punk Rock Guitar. Any bets?
Karina is on the right track. Anything with the word fancy in it would be great!

My Heart Was Broken Today

That Dang Vampire Woman, Stephanie Meyers....
I am sooooo sad today. Not one for books of fiction, I have steered clear of the Twilight Series that swept the nation this last summer. So imagine my surprise today when I found out that one of the characters had the name of my yet-to-be-born (and yet-to-be planned for) daughter - Esme! I came across this name in a book of non-teeny-bop, non-fiction a while ago and decided then that I had to use this name for one of my own children. I loved that it was not common, but now I can just see the surge of baby Esme's. Oh, help my hurting heart!

Thanks & Giving

Hope you all had a great Turkey Day!
Count them - 1, 2, 3....
4, 5 Sleepy Adults.

And 7 not-at-all sleepy kids!
